Due to the current political climate conflating DEI with violating federal anti-discrimination laws, the purpose of this guidance is to provide clarity, confidence, and encouragement for public and private sector organizations to sustain their DEI policies, practices, personnel, and programs, that are aligned with best practices for advancing equal opportunity, preventing favoritism and discrimination, removing barriers to fair treatment and access, and complying with federal anti-discrimination laws— in other words “Legal DEI.”
The Trump Administration’s Executive Orders have intimidated public and private sector organizations and federal contractors and grant recipients, by using conflating, confusing and threatening language for compliance with federal civil rights and anti-discrimination laws.
There is no court decision that has declared DEI best practices to be inherently illegal.
The Legal DEI Tour will take place in cities across the country and create customized guidance, strategic toolkits, policy recommendations, panels and presentations, and legal updates for the following industries:
